Celebrate America’s 250th on the King’s Highway

Join us on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at Sharon Hill Park for the official Bike the Pike Grand Opening and Inaugural Community Ride.
As the nation marks its 250th anniversary, Bike the Pike will officially launch the newly completed 7.2-mile bicycle corridor along Chester Pike, one of America’s most historic roadways. This special event is more than a ribbon cutting. It is the beginning of a new tradition rooted in history, community, safety, and connection.

7.2 Miles of History, Community & Connection
Be among the first to ride the newly completed 7.2-mile corridor through the five CPCIP boroughs:
- Glenolden
- Norwood
- Prospect Park
- Ridley Park
- Sharon Hill
This route follows the path of the historic King’s Highway, traveled by signers of the Declaration of Independence on their journey to Philadelphia. Two and a half centuries later, that same corridor becomes a place where American history and modern community life meet.
Why Bike the Pike Matters
Bike the Pike is designed not only as a commemorative event tied to the semiquincentennial, but as the launch of what is intended to become an annual signature community ride.
Honoring 250 Years of History
Riders will travel the same corridor that once carried leaders shaping a new democracy.
Building Community Connection
The 7.2-mile route strengthens links between neighborhoods, parks, municipalities, and corridor businesses.
Investing in Safety and Wellness
Improved cycling infrastructure promotes active transportation and healthier lifestyles. Free CPSC-certified safety helmets will be available for the first participants.
Driving Economic Vitality
An annual ride will help generate recurring visitation, regional visibility, and ongoing investment in the Chester Pike corridor.
From Milestone to Movement
With encouragement from the Delaware County Economic Development Corporation, the Chester Pike Corridor Improvement Partners are positioning Bike the Pike as a sustainable, recurring community event with growing regional impact. The 2026 Grand Opening serves as the foundation for what is envisioned as a lasting annual tradition for Delaware County.
In 1776, Chester Pike carried the vision of independence.
In 2026, it carries forward a new tradition rooted in connection, safety, and shared American history.
